SpringHill Suites by Marriott is offering Chattajackers a reduced rate at their beautiful riverfront hotel again this year! The hotel is within walking distance (1/2 mile) of Chattajack’s basecamp/launch site on Ross’s Landing. The special rate is $125 and includes free parking, internet and breakfast. The Delta Queen Departs
For 3 years the historic Delta Queen flanked Chattajack racers in the starting line-up to their right. The iconic steamboat served as an easy point of reference to many out of towners who were curious where the Chattajack race begins. Between the 2 bridges and beside the huge riverboat, the Delta Queen, was often the answer. The Delta Queen has been on the water since 1927 and has even crossed the Atlantic ocean once. Time and nature eventually took their toll on the riverboat but now thanks to a group of investors, she is journeying downstream to New Orleans for a huge make-over. In her next life (2016) she will be back on historic waterways serving as a cruising hotel. To bid her farewell several Chattanooga paddlers escorted her out of town to the mouth of the Tennessee River Gorge. Happy Trails Delta Queen!
